DRESDA LIGHTWEIGHT
Following his win in the 1964 Barcelona 24 hours race on a pre-unit Triton, Dave turned his attention back to winning short circuit races in England and decided to build a purpose-built racing frame to carry unit construction Triumph 500cc and 650cc engines. This resulted in the Dresda Lightweight frame on which Dave went on to win an historic second victory at Montjuic Park in 1970. Using the geometry of the Aermacchi 250cc bikes that he had raced so successfully, combined with twin top rails reminiscent of the Norton featherbed, the Dresda Lightweight frame is ideal for more compact British and Japanese engines. Today we manufacture these frames for a range of unit engines from Triumphs and BSAs to Suzuki T500s, and also produce a Dresda Lightweight frame for pre-unit engines such as Triumph, Norton and Matchless.
